Firstly, if you are new to the game, then stay away from fighting. If you’re a low level player, you should concentrate more efforts on increasing your Energy Capacity – which will help you to complete your jobs quickly and efficiently, earn some more money, and level up fast with more experience points. Secondly, you should focus on getting many expert players to join your Mafia family. This will help you in the long run. A strong organization behind you is extremely important, so you should focus on getting strong and experienced players to join your team. A strong crime family is absolutely essential. Plus, good players might have some good items, which they will most definitely share with you. Also, learn to make your defense levels stronger – this will help you to win more fights. Build up on items like Bodyguards and Prop Planes, for a strong and sturdy defense.

An important trick in the Mafia Wars game is never to pick a fight that you know you will never be able to win. If the rivaling family’s size exceeds yours, stay away from getting into a fight. Chances are you will lose. Another trick is to gift items to the weaker members in your Mafia family, this will boost their abilities and their statistics, thereby making your family stronger. Your aim should be to ensure that your enemy’s mafia is smaller than yours – this gives you greater likelihood to win in the chances of a fight. So concentrate on making your mafia level 501, and take it upwards from there. Ideally, the size of your Mafia level should be equal to your level. The simple logic is: if you have less Mafia members in your family, then you become an attractive target to those with bigger family, making yourself liable to be attacked. Also make sure that your Mafia family is equipped with the best possible transport, weapons and armor you can give them. This makes them much stronger. However, this is applicable only till you reach 501, after that, you have to keep up with Mafia Mikes, and the special weapons that you will be offered. You need to level up as fast as possible, because otherwise higher level players will pick on you. Try not to anger other players, then you will get hit-listed and robbed quite frequently. You should be aware that grudge matches are quite common, so try and stay away.
